School-Family Mediation Support

Restoring trust and connection between families and schools

Emma is a qualified mediator with over 8 years’ experience working in Local Authority mediation, specialising in family mediation. She has supported countless families and schools to find common ground and move forward, even in highly complex situations.  Our mediation service offers an impartial, supportive space to rebuild trust, particularly in scenarios involving behavioural concerns, special educational needs support, suspected neurodiversity, or ongoing conflict. We’ve assisted schools and families through some of the most challenging times, always with the aim of creating a happier and more stable school life for the child.  Mediation provides a calm, neutral space for honest conversation, ensuring that both school staff and parents feel heard. It identifies shared goals and next steps, helps plan practical new strategies for the child, and rebuilds relationships so everyone can move forward.

Reintegration Support after Alternative Provision

For many students, an Alternative Provision (AP) placement can be a pivotal moment, providing essential support and a new beginning. However, transitioning back to mainstream school requires careful planning, starting even before leaving AP. Without a solid plan, this transition may feel like a setback. At Bright Path, we prioritize rebuilding trust through our reintegration services, which include:- Pre-transition planning with schools, AP staff, students, and families- One-on-one mediation to address concerns and aspirations- Coaching workshops for schools to facilitate a smooth return. This process fosters a culture of belonging, helping schools confidently and compassionately welcome students back. Support for Children with Disrupted Education

Many children arrive at school carrying more than just a backpack. They may be coping with grief, family illness, or the effects of divorce and domestic abuse, which create invisible barriers to learning. This upheaval can lead to emotional distress and changes in behavior, especially during significant transitions like starting secondary school. Teenagers may feel shame among peers and face challenges on social media. At Bright Path, we offer behavioral and emotional support for children impacted by these life changes. Our trauma-informed approach ensures they feel safe and supported in school. We collaborate with schools to meet their educational and emotional needs during these tough times. Fear of Permanent Exclusion?

Are you overwhelmed by constant detentions, exclusions, and behavior calls about your teenager? Is the threat of permanent exclusion looming over your family, causing stress and arguments? Does your teen feel misunderstood by teachers and reluctant to attend school? You might suspect ADHD or neurodiversity but lack a formal diagnosis. You need support and strategies to turn things around before it’s too late. I’ve been through this struggle myself; my son is now preparing for his GCSEs after five challenging years. I’m dedicated to transforming how schools handle behavioral issues. By empowering parents with knowledge and support, we can create positive change for our children.
